I installed a set of plastic rear fender liners similar to what the '01 and earliers had. The list at the dealer was $89, but I got them for $72. Took about 15 minutes to install. I got tired of looking at the guts of the truck and getting my suspension, frame and under bed all muddy. How come the '03's come with that little liner at the back of the fender and not the whole thing? I mean, how much more could it cost? Maybe $20 to DC? Come on, we are paying like $35k and up for these trucks and we have to buy fender liners because DC is too worried about cost? Just because Ford and Chevy do it, doesn't make it right.

cost cuts

Sure doesn't cost them that much.

Those liners are molded of polypropylene costing maybe 30-40 cents per pound. How much do they weigh?

The liners would sell to DC from the supplier for no more than

$5 each. When they take $10 out of 500,000 trucks it adds up.

I am in the automotive plastics business and I have seen them change suppliers of a part to save 3 cents.

But I totally agree with you, prices go up and content goes down.
