I have not bought my truck yet. Waiting on the $$.

But I've read people writing that the 2500 does not have rear fender wells. Are we talking what I'd refer to as an inner wheel house?

IS that what's missing?

Nick

Single rear wheel trucks (2500 and 3500) do not have a plastic liner in the rear fenders. So the rocks your rear tires will throw into the fenders will hit metal + paint. The part numbers for the plastic fender liners are in the FAQ, the top thread in this forum.

I put them on my son's 1500 and it is a very easy job, should take you less than an hour. Thru were about $80 and I cannot for the life of me understand why they are not put on at the factory.

$80 a pair, one wouldn't do you much good;) . I am not being a smart a**, but there is a left and a right to pay attention to when you put them on. I took the rear wheels off when I did the job and put anti-seize on the hubs (all 4), my son's truck has aluminum wheels.

The only reason I pulled the wheels was to grease the hubs. I was going to do that anyway and it probably made the job a bit easier. Either way, it is a real piece of cake.

Have a couple aerosol cans of gloss black handy when you do the liners. There's some bare metal stuff up in there you'll want to paint before you put the liners in. Hard to get to later. Be sure to paint your exhaust good where the brackets are welded onto the pipe. Heck, paint your whole exhaust - it won't burn off like on a gasser.

We used the wheel liners as a bargaining chip. After the price was set and we couldn't get it lower, my husband negotiated quite a few freebies--the liners, first oil change, serpentine belt, mud flaps, and several more things I can't remember. Paid about $35,500 for a $41K MSRP and that included Jake Brake and installation (that's another story on another thread).
