Hello First Gen Brothers!

I've been away from the computer for 2 months on vacation in New Zealand with limited TDR access. Withdrawls, I tell you!

I hear from back home that my beloved '92 W250 has eveloped a rear main seal leak. I haven't had the ability to do a "search" for this subject but would appreciate any feedback or help.

Questions: Has anyone in TDR-land had to do a rear main seal replacement? What seal did you use? Is there a prefered replacement seal? If so, part numbers would be appreciated.

Sounds like a great opportunity to install an new clutch while I'm in there!

Thanks for any help in advance... ...
Keeno

Hello Bud!
The only kit (and it's a kit complete with installation/alignment tool) to consider is the Cummins rear main seal kit. The front one is complete too.
The seal is a one piece, engineered unit, not a split rope type.
The gearbox, clutch, and flywheel will be removed for access.
The kit should include instructions.
Keep wet.

Keeno,
When I replaced my clutch (over two years ago) I found Autozone carries the OEM Sachs clutch kits for less than half the price of the Dodge Dealers. Autozone had the vendor listed as Borg-Beck, but the clutch kit was manufactured by Sachs of Germany. The kit consists of all new components, not remanufactured, and included the Disc, Pressure plate, Throw out bearing, and pilot bearing for only $550. 00

Welcome back buddy!!! New Zealand?? I am jealous, if my brother had his way, he would be living there. I have yet to go for fear of never returning.
