Hi everybody,

I have a 90' D250 4x4 with a leaky rear main seal on the engine and was wondering if the transmission had to be removed to replace it or if it is possible to repair by dropping the oil pan. any insight would be greatly appreciated. :)

I want to make sure I repair it the right way because at 296,000 mile this is the first real problem the engine has ever given me and I know it has a lot more miles left in it.

Hey Smokin,

Mine leaks some too, and the trans does need to move out of the way to change the seal. I'm still waiting for my clutch to wear out before I change it... lazy I guess. :)

Thanks Grey Wolf,

I guess if thaks what I have to do then thats what I'll do. I was hoping it would be easier than that but it just gives me a good excuse to upgrade my torque converter while I'am at it. :D
