Rear marker lights?

I'm trying to test the wiring for my rear marker lights. Can someone explain how I access the main wires to them, All my light bulbs are o. k. No power at connector points. . Is the wiring loom inside the tail gate?

Yes the loom is in the tailgate. It enters thru the left side hinge and has a short pigtail to connect to the tail light harness.
