Aloha from Hawaii this is the second seal leaking,Does anyone know of a fix??ast posts people talked of the yoke having to much radial runout so it eats the seal. Others talk of a rubber plug or vent ontop of the transfer case. Everyone check your Output Shaft Seal... ... ... ... . Any ideas would be welcomed. . Take Care ad have a good day.

Seal

Ron, our trucks are different and this may not apply (mine, 2001. 5 4X4). I forget the member who posted this seal number but I was going to put the old seal (new seal but the old number) back in until I ran across his post with the new seal number. New Venture sent me an e-mail with this same number which is the update seal. It is totally different from the old seal. The new seal number is 5086054AA (Dodge number). It's been in approx. 450-500 miles. So far, so good. My transfer case is NV 241 HD. I hope this helps. Later. OM

Had this problem on 2001

Rear seal was replaced 2 times, but that was not the fix. The case vent plug ( on top of transfer case ) was put in crooked from the factory. It was removed and pressed back in strait. That fixed my leak. Hope this helps.

I have the extension housing in mine from one I fixed with a drive line vibration. The other truck had a seal that leaked like crazy, and when I put his extension housing in mine, and mine in his, the vibration went away, and after two weeks my truck has not vibrated, or leaked a drop. Until the new housing and seal come in, I don't know for sure, but my theory is the extension housing was mis positioned on the transfer case, and thus the vibration and leak.
