There has been much discussion that the 3rd gen"s drop to much,If you feel this is a problem their is a simple solution, 2. 5" bump stops from energy suspension, the 2nd gen"s you could raise the secondary spring,Not so with the 3rd gen"s without taking the entire spring out,This is quick, good and cost about $60. 00 and their is no sacrifice to the ride.

The only problem with that is whenever you don't have anything in the bed or a light load then you'll be bumping them frequently and the continual thudding on certain roads would get quite annoying.

Vaughn MacKenzie,Their is still about 1" before the bump stops touch the spring,The bump stops are cut outs and when they do touch they absorb alot of impact the ride does not suffer.

So you have this on your truck? Pics? What about biulding something so you engage the overloads sooner. Seems like you go down alot before you touch em.

Diesel Nut, I will get some pic"s I have them on my truck,It takes about 10 minutes to remove the stock stops, and put the new one"s in. I have scale the rear many times with my txi-axle dumpers, scales out between 3000-5000,At times have had over that drops about 1. 5"to 2", With gross weight up to 30. 000,empty weight truck and trailer 14,920 LBS.

TWestphal it's the sound and slight "thud" felt through the truck I was referring to, not the ride quality. Being 1" away they will make contact frequently if the road is very bumpy or there isn't enough weight in the bed to cause the overloads to be in contact all the time.

I'm just pointing out a potential drawback and like most cheap fixes in life there's going to be a drawback. But I've never tried them for myself and could be wrong about my assumptions :)

Vaughn

Vaughn MacKenzie, It did that on my 2gen"s,I agree there must be some contact ,You just might not feel it,My pic"s will tell more than my words,It works better than air bags, because the weight is divided in four positions though out the entire frame instead of on top of the axle, like air bags are . It is not as tippy as bags,If you buy the whole air lift system it would be better,But it works better than assisted lift. [ Air bags].

Looks good

TWestphal I didn't realize you had them in place already. I'm interested in some more feedback after you've had them in for a few thousand miles and have tried them under a number of difference circumstances

Vaughn

Edit: I see you mentioned 2nd gen so I assume you haven't put them on your '03 yet?

Re: Looks good

Vaughn MacKenzie,I had them on for over 14. 000 miles to and from landfill to job-site,Tomorrow i will get a better pictures

No thumps and thuds on rough roads or washboard highways? Those expansion joints every 15 feet are what kills us more than anything out here. Darned near kill ya! Can't drive more an an hour on some highway before you gotta pee. Keep the info comin, looks like it might be a good fix considering.
