Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) rear seal part no. ?

Learned a good lesson today.

Ran over a plastic bag and did not give it much thought. I checked when I got home, I found the bag had wrapped around the forward part of the rear axle (where the axle connects to the drive shaft behind the universal). During the process of removing the plastic bag, I damaged the rubber seal. Can I change the seal (it is time for new fluid) myself? What would be involved in doing so?

I just changed the pinion seal on the front of the diff. a few weeks ago. There are 3 different styles used on 2001 trucks. Some have 2 seals, some have an extra flange on the outer seal that rides on the yoke.



Just a word of caution to make sure you get the right part before tearing it apart.



I will check this thread before I leave tonight if no one has given you the numbers, I can give the one to you tomorrow that was used on my truck.
