Rear seating space

Not sure where to post this but I posted a post while ago stating along the lines of "scared of owning a Cummings I know I know" well I'm 100% but being military and preparing for deployment now in less then two weeks I kinda miss something that is rear seats becuase of having a wife a hunting dog and a 2 year old and don't have time or a car seat to try it. Now I have seen and driven 2nd gen 24v but was curious about the 3rd gens and 4th generation. I don't know if it's the color or what but some years the 4 door looks bigger I can tell obvious megacabs vs non megacab but really want the long bed so with that being said are all the 4 doors as small in the rear as 2nd gen extended cab or do they get bigger and more use friendly for car seats ? I guess what years offer the bigger rear seats like the ford and chevy if they do or experiences of people owning the 4 doors with family thanks so much !!!

The 3rd gen quad cabs (2003-2009) are smaller than the 4th gen crew cabs (2010-present). We currently have 2 3rd gen quad cabs and one 4th gen crew and have used just about every type car seat in each. Currently I have one child in a booster and another in a rear facing infant seat. The 4th gen does have more space, but the seats work just fine in the quad cabs.

iv just figured that out yesterday i bought a old car seat off CL for cheap and went fantasy car shopping for 8 hours test driving 2nd 3rd and even the 2010's and up. the 2nd gen rears feels alot like my 1999 5.3 ext cab i have now but i got the 3 door not quad so as long as i get the convertable car seat ill be happy. my wife has the 2013 journey i bought her but i prefer less gas mileage and my truck when driving with the family. just old fashion i guess. but thanks in advance for everyones input!

The 4th gen's have Plenty of room in the back seat of the Crewcab's No need to get the Mega cab if you want the longbed . go for the Crewcab and you will be Happy .
