On my '97 3500 I just bought, I was removing the dually bed this afternoon(I'm suppose to get a DewEze bale bed installed on Tuesday). When I got the bed off, I noticed one of my rear shocks was broke, I hadnt really noticed it, as I have only had the truck for a week and havent hauled anything with it. Anyway, I imagine I will go to NAPA in the morning to buy some new shocks, as now will be alot easier putting them on, than after the bale bed. Any particular shocks you guys would recommend? Incidently, I did replace my fuel gauge sending unit today, as it wasnt working. New one works fine, and it was "easy" with the bed off!

I went the adjustable route, Rancho 9000s. The reason is that I want a different shock rate unloaded -vs- with the 5th wheel on. I had stiffer shocks on the 95, that really damped out the 5th wheel really well, but were too stiff unloaded.

I've done some "searching" and read some posts pertaining to shocks, and several people recommend the Rancho 9000. Since I will be hauling big round bales, and towing cattle trailers at differant times, the adjustable that Rancho has might be my best bet.

We have two trucks with bale handlers on them. So far we just use the cheapest we can find for the ranch trucks. I have rancho 9000 on my daily driver and I believe they would work great for the bale handlers. We are putting air bags on the older truck. We hope it is going to help handling side hills.

I'd highly recommend Bilstiens. Under $60 each, and have read MUCH fewer complaints vs. Ranchos. Don't have personal experience w/ Ranchos, but would rather buy a brand that puts more money in engineering than marketing. Just me, but I'm in marketing (it pays the bills).

Best wishes,

Hvy
