rear studs

im looking to upgrade my rear tires. ive seen some threads on guys using on their duallies up to like 295s or something with 2 inch spacers on them. i have some 265 75's from a friend i would like to put on and im thinking i will need some longer studs, since i will assume i will need some sort of spacers back there. has anyone any ideas on what i need or where to get them. or am i gonna just have to get down and dirty and take it apart and do a little hit or miss on it?

If you have a dually, I wouldnt recommend putting too big a spacer in there. Heard horror stories of things breaking apart at highway speeds- some of them pure truck stop myths, I'm sure, bu t you never know. Plus it cant be good for the hub, lug bolts, or wheels. I know there arent too many of the 235 85 16s out there, esp used, and those that are used are bald. Better to just cowboy up and fork over the dough for the 235s. If anyone has any other ideas, feel free to prove me wrong.

I would not recommend going to longer studs with spacers. That is if they are made for the size our trucks use.



I have seen the damage done when a dually spits off a set of tires. It is expensive. A local tire shop in a town to the south of me had a impact go bad. In a 4 day period. The shop I worked for hauled in 5 dually's with tires off on the rears. The only one that did not require extensive body work was one with a flat bed on it.



Before you do this call your insurance agent. Ask him about the legality's of your doing extensive mods on the wheel mounting system to use way over size tires on the truck. It would be better to find out from the company that would handle the damages caused by wheels leaving the vehicle.





The 2003/4's series of dually's use a different offset to the rims they use. I would look that way and see if it is something you could use.

Even though most tire shops will use spacers to fit those silly big wheels and small tires on cars around here, wheel spacers are not legal in Washingtoon.

I use spacers to tune for a tight/loose track but you should see what it does to the outer wheel bearings.

What you might concider is a wheel with a more positive offset.
