rear sump and front sump for 4bt's?

can you put a front sump on a rear sump 4bt? all i have see pictures of is rear. what would i need to change to convert to front sump? just the pan and pick up tube?

The oil sump pick up would have to be changed to the front pickup style. Also,the manual strongly recommends that you do not weld on or try to repair an oil pickup tube. Since it has such an important function I would have to agree. It would be a bad idea to try and modify a rear sump pickup to work on a front sump pan. Theirs too much vibration in these engines to be second guessing on whether a welded pickup tube is holding. It would probably break when you least want it to.
