I have been installing Timbrens on my last three trucks and have been pretty satisfied until today. I ran in to some pretty rough roads on our way south and got a real beating pulling my 18000 lb fifth wheel that has a Trail Air pin box. I have never tried air bags and don't know if they smooth things out of just help keep things level. Let me know if you have any experience with air bags for this problem.
Thanks,
Don:confused:

I had air bags on my 03. They helped for levelling. I installed Energy Suspension 2" bump blocks on my 03 and my 2012. I did notice a good improvement in loaded ride on both trucks. My wife even noticed the change. They contact the overloads sooner than the stock blocks. I also know that speed is a big factor on rough roads. Ride is much better if I stay around 60 MPH or less plus everything in the trailer rides a whole lot better

I have a heavy Mobile Suites over 18K with the same truck as you. Also have the TrailAir air bag Kingpin. There is a section on I-10 West of Palm Springs that really is rough, jars the crap out of you!

I added Bilstiens from Geno's and also added PacBrake air bags with in cab controller. Next time I traveled that same road my wife and I were surprised at how much better the ride was.

I don't need the airbags for leveling the truck even with 4,500# pin weight. I do run 30# that amount is just enough to help control the springs.

I am sure the Bilstiens helped also.

I run 80# in the front tires and 60# in the rear when towing. I think people run too much air pressure in the rear duals. 60 is actually more then enough per tire weight/inflation chart.

Thanks for the advise. I noticed I need to update my profile a little since we purchased our Mobile Suite and changed the hitch to handle the weight of the coach. I run 65psi in rear and 70psi in front tires, so I think I have that covered. I will look into air bags while here for the trip home.
