Hi. Have a question regarding the rear sway bar links. Just walked into the garage where truck is sitting to pour a beer and just noticed the rear sway bar hanging out of the sockets. Not sure when this happened. Heard a popping noise last weekend and shrugged it off so figure this was when it happened. Going over potholes and such. Haven't really hauled anything heavy in the bed except my 782 cub with rear tiller and weights just yesterday and handled just fine. Question is has anybody ever just taken the bar off? If I get links gonna invest in the same links I have up front to delete the ball in socket. Thanks for any info!

Empty it will actual ride a bit better. If you never carry tall loads you will most likely not miss it! I would love to have a disconnect link on one side for bobtailing around. I disconnected one side and tied it aside to test and found the improvement in ride. Do you drive on roads with a lot of pot holes that cause the sway bar to work over time? BTW both sides most likely did not drop of at the same time, so you most like have not had a working sway bar for some time period. SNOKING

I pull a gooseneck equipment trailer but as far as loads in the bed that are over the cab, never. Did some searching and only aftermarket options I saw for the rear is the Maxx links. Not getting those, had a bad experience with them on the front of the 99. So looks like some from napa or rock auto or take the whole thing off. Been driving back farm lanes a lot and the back roads to my house are filled with holes. Yeah I agree probably has been off for some time. What's prompting me to take it off is the absence of them on 3rd gens.

3rd gen's have wider frame rails with springs out closer to the wheels. That was Dodge logic to not install the sway bar. Snoking

If your empty miles far exceeds your towing miles you might like it without. Personally I wouldn't remove it but that's just my preference, everybody's uses/needs are different. True the 3rd gens dont have them, but lots of people wish they did. Most everybody i know here locally have added aftermarket sway bars to their rigs.

Now that I'm local I have time to work on stuff. Was going to get a pair of links from napa but figured I should take the old ones off first. Got to looking at them and took a grinder and took off the cap that holds the stud in. Then threw a grade 8 bolt w washers on both sides. Doesn't look too bad and used stuff I had laying in work bench. I can tell you it did handle better, passenger side had been off for some time as there is a lot of rubbing on the bottom of the link.
