My 95 Ram came new without the sway bar. I intend to install one, however I've been told that I will need to weld a bracket to the shock mounts for the sway bar to bolt too. Just curious if this is true. Looked at mine but still not sure. I'll try to look at one on another rig to determine the answer, or get the information from this site. Thanks

The aftermarket boys might have versions with axle clamps. I don't recall the names, but Addco & Helwig come to mind.

The magazines like "Trailer Life" advertise someones.

I took my sway bar off. Just unbolted everything. I should put it back on one of these days. I haul lots of heavy stuff often but do not notice a difference with it off. Reason for taking off... ... ... Dodge stealers want $120 bucks for each of the little bars that connect from the frame to the anti-sway bars. Rocks from travelling at high speeds took their toll on them and the little "balls" popped out. :D

Look on the shock brackets there is 2 holes on each about 3 inches apart the bar bolts to these. I found one and a set of over load springs on same truck at a auto salvage yard for about 125. 00 with all the parts. My truck is a 95 the bar is from a 96 or 97. I tried a Hellwig when I put the weight on it the bar bumped the inspection plate when traveling with 5th wheel. I worked with Hellwig a year trying to get it to work they are good folks it just didn't work. They may have redesigned it by now for a 2x4 they where working on it.

95 2x4 5spd.

If I remember right the diameter was 1" it is heavier than D/C the problem was that the shock brakets are staggered that put the bracket closer to the rearend . We tried diffrent plates trying to make it work this is on a 2 wheel drive. Like I said these are good folks I would not be afraid to deal with them again they gave me a full refund.

I have a Helwig on my '98 also & have been satasfied. Company & product seem first rate, although mounting instructions are a little vague (or maybe I'm a little dumb). They answered all my questions & were very helpfull. I purchased from Rickson truck acc. - also good people to do business with.

My 96 did not have a rear bar. I got mine from QUICKOR here in Portland, OR, and it was a bolt-on, no welding. They have been designing and installing aftermarket suspensions for years. Try them at (503) 654-2175.

sway bar

:p I just put a Helwig on my 94 4x4 2 weeks ago, it definitely helped the ride. The staggered plates that bolt to shock mounts were not right but they sent me the right one... also on early 94 model like mine you have to drill holes in frame to mount upright pieces, a royal PIA, yours should have the holes from the factory.

I just installed a Hellwig on Saturday. It bolted up with parts supplied but, as mentioned earlier, I had to drill the bracket holes in the frame. I bought it from Mac Springs in California and shipping was free. After I put this puppy on, I loaded my new (to me) Lance 920. Love the anti sway bar.
