Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Rear trans. seal question

I need to replace the rear trans seal due to a slight leak. This is the seal where the trans and drive shaft meet. My understanding is this is referred to as the transfer case rear seal rather than the trans rear seal and is a larger seal. The question is what fluid will I expect to need to replace after changing the seal? since the truck is a 4X4, will this be 75w-85 synthetic or will this be auto trans fluid from the transfer case? Anyone know?

i just rebuilt my transmission and transfercase and they both use atf. i put royal purple atf in. and what a difference. worth every penny.
