Howdy,

I'm going to replace my rear wheel bearings sometime soon, and I couldn't seem to find any part number on those, could anybody help me out on 'em? I think I will go with the double locknut system too.

I've had both sides down here lately(seals) and it really aint too hard.

Wheel bearings

Well Steve you already know that I will stick my opinion in on most of this stuff so here it is. Unless you have some visible evidence that the bearings need to be changed, don't. I have 430k miles on my truck as of now and just put new shoes and seals on both rears. I inspected the bearings and passed on them for more service. Also am using the crappy little wedge lock on the nylon lock nut. Never a problem as opposed to definitely having a problem on my old one ton Ford that had the double nuts. Do you know how to inspect the bearings? If not PM and I will explain. Not sure if the bearings on a 3. 07 from 1989 are the same as yours but I can get those numbers for you.

I just replaced the bearings on both of my trucks. Here are the numbers:

all bearings and cups Timkin:

28622 cup

28682 cone

LM104911 cup

LM104910 cone

I believe the above was for my Dually

45220 cup

45291 cone

LM104911 cup

LM104949 cone

I believe this is for the 3/4 ton.

Thanks guys,

I inspected the bearings, one side is O. K. some very slight scoring. The other side(pass. ) is worse, with one of the bearings with slight scoring, and the other with some scoring and pitting.

The brakes dont look too bad, can't decide wether to go with the 3" brake shoes now or not.

If I were to stick with the nylon lock nut, what do new ones run? I think they have been off a couple times before i got in there.

Thanks, Steve
