Are the rear wheel bearings packed with grease or do they run in oil.

How about the fronts on 4x's? Do we have to pack them?

Even though the rears are lubed by the gear oil, do not overlook that if cleaned or replaced they need to be packed with grease to protect them until the gear oil can get to them. Many a rear axle housing has been ruined by installing new dry bearings.

Front's are not serviceable, we get to just wait till they wear out and spend a fortune to replace them.

do you mean the axle bearings or the front wheel bearings?

I was talking about the unitized hub bearings. The only other bearings on the front end should be the pinion and carrier bearings.
