I just noticed the differential cover paint was bubbled and peeling off. I pulled off several large paint chips and it was rusted under the paint. Nothing was discolored so I doubt it was heat related. Looks like another fine DC product. It must have been very humid in Mexico or wherever that day.

It seems to be a common problem - mine did it and I've heard of others. I repainted mine and it stayed nice through some heavy summer towing so I don't think its just heat.
 
I was hoping that would be the case, I don't recall any threads on the subject. I'll repaint it then maybe replace it. Sure looks like crap now that I picked most of it off. Not a good sign for something with only 10 months and less than 10K miles.
 
There has been some discussion on the paint peel differential. No one has had a problem other than the appearance.



If you don't like the paint peel, look at your driveshaft or transmission if you have the NV5600. Steel rusts without protection, but does form a shield of rust - apparently the DC plan! <smile>
