So, I attended a reception and got a room a the hotel for the night...

Came out to a truck with a pryed lock and multiple item gone.

Missing: Radio, AMP, tools... But they left the SBC box (1 3/8 input shaft), and my numerous shifter parts

What can I say, I am questioning buying a fancy stereo again. It is clear the thieves only wanted the stereo stuff, and I dont think music is worth putting the truck at risk of being broke into again...

Sad day friends, sad day

HAMMER!!!??? too much labor involved there!! BANG... would be my choice! #@$%! That sux Tom, insurance going to cover it?

I am pretty sure the truck can't be started without the grey key (and I leave a non-chipped key in the center console for kicks)...

So I think the insurance money I get will NOT be going towards a new stereo but more likely stuff that cannot be seen. Like maybe a DD clutch? Or maybe a stereo that is fully inside the dash and operates by remote only (i have sirius satellite and they did not get that - SO I dont need a CD player) - Then the only way stuf will get taken is if the entire truck is gone...

Anyway, I guess I am lucky that the idiots were not BOMB'ers... A lot more valuable stuff could have been taken, heck the whole truck if they were smart

I will find out monday - I estimate about $2000 is stuff is gone.

Heck all my hand tools are gone, you know, the ones you use most!

I'm sorry to see that happen to anyone, especially somebody that's contributed to this site as much as you have. People like that don't get away with it in the end. :(

Good luck with insurance tomey!

Thanks to the state of TN, if I ever catch anyone in my truck... ... they will still be there when the law gets there to take them to jail. ;)

That sucks Tomey! I hate thieves

I added an aftermarket stereo to my stock head unit with this, so from the outside everything looks factory. It sounds great too ;)

I know how you feel Tomeygun. A couple years back I had my three gauge piller stolen from the airport long term parking lot... lesson learned. I hopped in after coming back in town and thought. . what's that hissing sound :--) oh it's just my boost tubing where it was cut right above the dash. Broke in through my sliding rear window... at least they closed it back up after they were down raping my pride and joy. #@$%!

Insurance came through in the end though... good luck with the claim.

Thats my plan... To mount the amp in such a way that behind the back seat (the back of the read seat is not removable without about 1-2 hours time)

And make the headunit hole into a gauge pod, and then have a head unit mounted deep in the dash, etc - Or do like you did and use a factory unit...

Ramtough: It was not valeted - In fact I should have parked it closer to a light... but hind sight is 20/20 ya know.

Heck I would have parked it in the front lobby with the 4x4 engaged - I'll take a parking ticket over this crap

I had an 89 1/2ton chebby until 1999. It had been wrecked so many times i had like 3 different exterior colors. The interior was immaculate with custom buckets and sound system. The back window was spray painted and the driver and passenger were illegal. And my brow strip WAS way to low( i was 19 at the time). Truck gotten broken into at a pool hall 1/2 mile from my house. My best friend in the world at the time had a set of keys to the truck. His house was broken into and my truck was broken into with no pry marks are anything the same night. But How could someone break into a house on one end of town and figure out EXACTLY what truck the keys went to on the other. We always thought it was his cousin but couldn't prove it.

it was the crappiest feeling in the world and back then I could only afford liability insurance. So, I got "0"

I feel for you man.

man that makes me sick when I see the aftermath pics. My buddies dually got stolen out of his driveway and put into a telephone pole down the ST from his house last week. #@$%!

Man Tomey... I too feel your pain. My truck got broken into about a month ago and they messed my door up, busted my column and stole my book of over 200 CD's. Now last night my brother 06 2500 Big Horn 4x4 was broken into (different part of town though). They didnt get either of the trucks... but man these trucks are quite hot nowadays to thieves. Its sad we got to spend so much money to protect the things we already spend too much money on anyway. Good luck with the insurance.

PS. You might want to look into an iPod. Thats my new plan. Load it up with over 500 songs. And you can take it with you when you exit your truck. The things are hardly bigger than a crdeit card anymore... just a thought. Take care and once again good luck.
