I have a 97-3500 12v 5sp that has been slightley bombed by Jerry MClain Diesel in St. Louis (if anyone has heard of him). All I know is that he made some changes in the pump and I think I remember him saying a timing change. He said he done some other things but won't tell because of trade secrets. It does not look like he got into the afc housing because the breakoff screw is still intact. All I know is that it revs alot higher (I know at least to 3-3. 5k) and the turbo comes in quicker and does have a lot more power. Smokes black quite a bit when you really nail it. If you guys have any idea about what he has changed it would help me to know what direction to go to bomb it further. He charged me $400 in 1998 to do it. what do I need to do to get around 300hp or above. I see a lot of the post with 370 diamond B, TST plates and a 16cm exhaust housing installed, but no info on what kind of HP increase or tourque specs. My last question is on the different #TST plates which number gives the more HP, higher or lower (ie... #4TST or #11TST)

Thanks ahead of time

Rick,

A TST kit comes with a break off screw so it's looks stock after installation. It sounds like it has a governor spring kit plus a torque plate. The lower the number of a TST plate the more power. You should take a look to see what you have already. A TST plate has a number on the upper surface when the AFC housing is removed. It also does not have rivets like a stoke plate. Your truck may already be making 300 HP.
