I am rebuilding an 1991 Cummins Turbo Diesel (of course) and am looking for sujestions and dos and don'ts. Any helpfull sujestions would be a great help. This is the first diesel that I have rebuilt(I have done many gas V8)
Thanks

1985 1 ton Crew Cab W/8' box converted to 4X4 in 1999,converted to a 1991 Cummins Turbo diesel & 5 speed in 2000. 4:10 gears, limited slip rear end and LE Package. A one of a Kind (Wish Dodge Would build and new Crew Cab in 1 ton).

That sounds just like what I'd like to do someday, truck and all. Even if they made a new one it would be out of my reach. As far as tackling a "B" rebuild, I would definetly get a book, prefer a Cummins book. There some tricks in that engine such as how to get some gears off of shafts, get the lifters/ cam out, making sure the piston cooling nozzles are clear, etc. among other things, that are unorthodox to some Engine biulders. This is not a SB Chevy! Good luck.

It's going to cost a hell of a lot more than a small block!!

Yes I know it is not a cheap rebuild, ever price a 440 rebuild ? Anyone know where I can get manuals for the Cummins and for a Getrag 5 speed ?
