Rebuilding an 03

I have a 03 with a burnt piston from bad injector. What parts are interchangalbe with the 04. 5+? Which parts should be used when rebuilding. This engine will be used in a Chevy conversion. Should I look for electronics from a 04. 5+ or stick with the 03. Does anyone have any suggestions for machine shop in MO, IA, or IL?

Are the 04. 5+ parts better than the 03?

I would just replace one piston. Cummins allows you to have an overbored piston.

You can sleeve it if it's real bad, and put a stock size piston.



Otherwise, the 04. 5+ has a different piston bowl design , and different injectors.



The 03 injectors and electronics=better mileage.
