I just put in a new, well rebuilt, NV 4500 from K/Crane out of Six States in Salt Lake. This is the second one, my first was bad and so they swapped it out, had a countershaft problem. Question is, is there a break in for trannies? I don't know of any and it shifts good, but it does run warm, by that I mean if I drive for awhile 30-45 min. I can't hold my hand on the transmission for more than 10 seconds or so without it getting quite uncomfortable, and there is a very slight hissing noise, but no "bad" grinding or loud noises when I hold my ear to the shifter, and it seem like it is only noticable in certain areas of my truck. Is this just new berrings and races making a little noise, and everyling getting broke in proberly or should I be concerned, I only have about 150 miles on it or so, and thats in town and than tonight I took a 60-70 mile drive at highway speed. Trying not to be paranoid, but I want another good transmission first one went 170K+ and was still going strong minus a tooth.
Appreciate it.
