Just finished installing the rebuilt 47re for my boss. rebuilt the trany with a napa kit, bought a trans go shift kit (TFOD-HD2) and a hughes towing tc. started it for the first time to check the oil and top it off, and found out it doesnt work. when you put it in any gear, r d 2 1, i feel it "clunk" into gear like usual, but it slips when i try to drive it. so bad that i had to put it into 4lo to get it to move at all. not really sure what i did wrong. any help would be greatly appreciated. i ran the trans thru all the gars slowly several (hundred) times to make sure there was no air in the lines but its still the same.:confused:

All the torque converters I've installed require you to install them on the input shaft as far as it will slide then rotate it 1/2-3/4 turn in each direction with a slight amount of pressure while supporting it with both hands. It should "clunk" in about another 1/2" or so.
It sounds like that might be your problem if you didn't do that.

if that was the case, though wouuldnt the transmission not bolt up to the engine? i slid it on the trans when it was still on the benck an made sure it went on both niput shafts and was locked into the oil pump. heres a dumb question, but could the rear servo and band be my problem? i am noticing that i dod a mod to the spring and installed a spacer with the trans go kit and come to find out at the top of the page it says to skip the step if you have a diesel. . :/
