Need help on how to recalibrate the speedometer on 99 2wd auto trans. Changed rear gear from 3. 54 to 4. 10 . Two dealers have been no help.

Shouldn't Need Calibration...

If you changed the ring gear for a different gear ratio, that should not change the speed at which the exciter ring rotates and thus shouldn’t change the speedometer calibration. The exciter ring creates the pulses that trigger the speedometer. That is why the dealer can calibrate the speedometer when the tire sizes are changed (within the range of what Dodge sells) but there is no adjustment for gear ratio. One revolution of the wheel equals one revolution of the exciter ring regardless of the gear ratio.

calibration

call rickson truck tire!

they sell the superlift calibration module. it's a couple hundred bucks but easy to install and works great! i had the same problem. dodge couldnt chande my speedo to work right when i went to 285-75-16's on my 3500! good luck... . james

I had some warranty work done on the cruise control at the dealer. While there, they did the computer update, or "reflash," as they seem to be called here. After that, I swear the speedometer calibration is very definitely different. Is that possible? Have any of these updates done that?
