Just received a safety recall notice from my dealer. Recall # Co2 Engine Module. Anyone know what this is about? Strange that it came from the dealer, every recall I had on previous trucks came from Chrysler.

not having one yet, I suspect

they want to double ck your "toys";) :D

Co2??? Hmmm, sounds a little like maybe, possibly, suspect, the master cyl back-up can???

Da Diesel-less SOTSU!!

Those of us with manual trannys can have a run away throttle condition after driving on the freeway w/ cruise on. As I understand it, this usually happens on the off ramp and when youv'e depressed the clutch. Something to do with programming.

Dealer told me my truck was covered by this recall but they didn't have the CD yet :(

I had mine in a few days ago for them to replace the top part of the air filter cover. One of the tips where it slides into broke off:eek: so they replaced it and did the CO2 recall.

Here is the recall C02

Make : DODGE Model : RAM 3500 Year : 2003

NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 03V033000 Recall Date : FEB 04, 2003

Component: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Potential Number Of Units Affected : 19500

Summary:

CERTAIN PICKUP TRUCKS, EQUIPPED WITH CUMMINS DIESEL ENGINES AND MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS, MAY EXPERIENCE AN ELEVATED IDLE SPEED AFTER EXTENDED CRUISE CONTROL USE.

Consequence:

THIS CAN RESULT IN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND A REDUCTION IN BRAKING EFFECTIVENESS, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy:

DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE SOFTWARE IN THE CUMMINS ENGINE CONTROLLER. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MARCH 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.

Notes:

CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION’S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

I had mine checked out on Monday. The CO2 recall is for 19,000 trucks that were made between certain dates (I don't have the dates). My truck was manufactured on 11-02 and was included in the recall. All the trucks made during this time period do not need the reprogramming, mine was checked out and was "up to date" and needed no changes to the software.

After t reprogramming, does it still rev between 2nd & 3rd gear. Mine sort of hangs for a moment and drops very slowly. Throttle response is good on the upside, but way slow going back down.

I have an appointment at the dealer Tuesday for this and a recall on the fan too.
