The H46 is for steering linkage Mopar service parts. Wouldn't Dodge know if they did the repairs without me driving an hour to the nearest stealership?

My other newest recall is K01 which says it is for reprogramming of the ECM to meet Calif. OBD functioning. First of all I have an edge juice with attitude that I would rather not remove and is this recall going to mess anything up. My recall says that I will not be able to register without doing the emisions recall. The last time I had an emisions recall with a computer reprogram was when I just got an 03 Furd 6. 0 no and when the recall was done my truck was a POS with a lot less power and after that I had every 6 leaker problem until Furd bought it back. I do not want to sacrafice a great running truck again because of a lame emisions recall. Anybody know anthing about these recalls more than I do?

Got mine in the mail yesterday also, yet I live in the deep south. I hesitate to take it in and get the ECM all screwed up to appease anyone.

I am holding off to hear from someone about the specifics of this reflash, other then the manufacture.

Got my H46, the nearest dealer is 70 miles away. Called the dealer to find out exactly what it was and the idiot on the phone keep trying to impress me with the word tech and the fact a tech would have to look at it, this is the place our shop buys it's dodge parts from. So I called another dealer and they told me what it was, how the steering stabilizer mounted and saved me a 140 mile round trip because my truck didn't it. Some of these dealer will do anything just to get you in there.

Clarification.

The steering components on my truck are fine and did not need replacement. I am more concerned about the K01 reflash and what else it tampers within the new program.

Is there an easy way to know if the steering has been modified? I will also wait and see how the K01 reflash works out.

The end of the steering damper on the drag link that used u-bolts is replaced with a drag link using a stud through the link instead of the u-bolt set up. Thats what they told me.

I live in Commiefornia and got the ECM reflash notice. Under NO circumstances am I going to let them reflash my ECM. I have read time and time again on this site that the dealer will reflash your truck WITHOUT your permission. I have also read that some guys got WORSE fuel mileage after an ECM flash. I am going to make up some sort of locking cover to secure my OBDII port in the cab so they can't touch it.

Motorhead, you won't be able to register your vehicle here without the reflash. A neighbor was unable to register his '04 F-250 Powerstroke without a Ford reflash. It's nothing new. I've got until 12-30-10 to do mine.

You may be right but the recall said that my truck MAY or MAY NOT be able to communicate through the OBDII.
I will take my chances when I get the notice to smog. I have a local guy that does my smogs. I will ask him about this. Have you gotten the notice yet for your '07?
You know, If the flash was just so the ECM could communicate with what ever was needed for Sacramento, I would say ok. You can't trust Dodge in that you don't know what else they are putting in your ECM.

Nope... ... If you currently have the stud mounted stabilizer no further action is required. If it is mounted with the clamps it will be inspected and there are different fixes depending on what is found.

;) I have not gotten any negative feed back on the latest update.

They are not going to touch my truck for a reflash. It runs so good..... dealers stay away !

I just got home a few hours ago from 690 mile round trip pulling a Goosneck equipment trailer rated at 14K. Going half the distance I was getting 20. 4 mpg hand calculated. I loaded a Corvette on the trailer and when I got home I filled up and calculated the MPG... . 19. 9

I dont need to stinking flash LOL

With the J 35 recall I have been getting increased fuel mileage claims.

Bob, Your input as a Dodge mechanic at a dealer is MUCH appreciated by me.
What is the "J 35" flash?? Is this OBDII, "K 01" flash for Calif. trucks anything to worry about?

I am going to go to YOUR dealership when I need work and ask for you... ... Even if it is 250 miles away;)

Inferno Red Cummins trucks only need maintenance.....

I was also going to blow off a calibration, until I read the part on the notice about the registration. Oh well, time for a half ton anyway.

The J-35 is the recall for the 6. 7 p/ups. the k01 is for the 5. 9 and the 6. 7 c/c

I haven't felt any difference on the trucks that I have performed the k01,but a 3 mile test drive on an unfamiliar truck may not give the perfect answer.

I have to say about half the vehicles coming in the drive now are diesels.

I finally read mine past the sentence of the recall and saw the same thing about the registration... ... .
