Looking for a bit of help / can I gauge & eliminate muffler for about $500. If so, what could I do with what's left and maybe another $1-200? Obviously, I wan't to do the gauges first. I'll probably only be able to get away with spending about $500 +/-. The wife would probably go thru the roof if it's much more. She understands that it's insurance to have gauges. So, I think I'm set on the Westachs duplex gauges and a 3 pod "A" pillar. Monitoring parameters as follows: #1-EGT & Turbo, #2-pressure pre & after fuel filter and #3-Trans & ____? I don't tow, it's my daily driver/toy. No off road so what else should be monitored that makes sense or is available w/a trans temp gauge?



Don't for get about "what else can I do w/what's left and possibly 1-200 more". I know the auto is a weak link and also know I'm not touching a converter & v/b for anywere near that. Looking for best BOMB for the buck.



I wan't to place the order before my wife comes up with somehing "more important" to do with the $500 I have slated for my truck :-{} :{

Go for the gages

Yiu are right on target, get the gages



1) boost and pyrometer combo



2)fuel psi and 2 senders and a switch, this will do both pre and post filter readings



3) auto trans needs temp monitor gage

Thanks Wit. Anyone monitoring engine oil temp in addition to trans temp. Is there a sending unit other than the dipstick sender in genos?



Come on guysv - I want to order this week? I'd prefer to learn from others experience, than my own mistakes . . . isn't that what this site is about?

Well..... Whitmore. . says it all. I would go with the Rear Dif. temp probe. But I pull once in a while. If not, just run it up to the front of your engine compartment and use it as outside temp indicator.



You could look at the engine oil temp but someone said it was like watching yesterdays news. Boring!!



Maybe someone has a better idea.

You can get an oil temp sender that fits in the plug on top of the oil filter. I know TST has them www.tstproducts.com



One came with my TST PowerMax 3 with the way cool remote with gauges. I think it is designed to come with the DiPricol gauges that TST sells.



I'm sure a lot of other gauge suppliers have them as well.
