I have been trying to locate a Class V receiver hitch for my truck. You would think it’s no big deal. However, according to some of the manufactures, the hitch won’t fit my truck because of the short bed (interfere with the fuel tank?) or will not work with a heavy-duty suspension. It is beyond me why would a manufacture build a Class V hitch and not expect it to go on a truck with a heavy-duty suspension. A Class V hitch is probably over kill for my application, but I would rather be safe than sorry. Some of the sites I have visited were Reese, Pull-Right, trailer.com, to mention a few. My questions are where are you guys getting your hitches? Can someone recommend a hitch manufacture? Has any one purchased one of the hitches from J. C. Whitney?

Thanks,

Doug

I bought my hitch from JCwitney it is a class 4 1200/12000 . I drilled the holes out to 5/8 instead of 1/2 inch bolts. I welded some gussets to add some beef;and tied the bumper to it with long 5/8 bolts and heave bar stock under the reciever square. I checked into the Reece titen class 5 hitch it is 2-1/2 inch and $220. Do not remember any thing about not fitting our trucks. I have a 5600# tag trailer I hauled 10 3000# concreet blocks 1 load every night after work for a week and see no streaching on any metal. I also haul a John Deere 4430 all the time and it weights 14500#. Had the hitch sence 1994.
