There is a 10 amp fuse in the power center under the hood #36. Take it out for a few minutes while you start vehicle-let run for a minute-turn off and reinstall 10 amp fuse. This might fix it. :D

Are you talking about the little button with the snowflake on it? I believe that's the button that kicks your compressor on. Recirc mode is to rotate the air vent selector switch to "MAX" and then you are in recirc mode. The air conditioner compressor does not kick in automatically (except for the defrost setting). On my truck if I touch this button, the light comes on and the air conditioing compressor kicks in. Touch it again and it goes out and the compressor kicks off.

I hate 'snow flake' buttons. Why doesn't it say 'A/C' or something like that. I don't even like snow in my cab or anywhere else for that matter. Those picture thingies make me feel like an idiot. I can read, DC. Can you HEAR me?

I feel better now.

Sawbones: had a similar problem on mine. If I didn't press the exact center of the button, the recirc would not turn off.

Casey: Chill out (get it... I'm trying to be funny) The snowflake is a recent universal symbol for AC. All new vehicles have it. Your headlight switch shows a lamp...

I actually love the snowflake button, it allows you have AC in any mode, not just face mode.

Hey ... please correct me if I'm wrong... . and that happens to me often, but I thought that recirc in the cab was accomplished by rotating the vent control full left to MAX. I didn't think the now- famous snowflake button had anything to do with the air circulation. I'm at work and don't have my owners manual handy with me as I write this.

I think there are several AC configurations, depending on which trim level you get.

My Laramie has a snowflake button that lights up when pressed and turns the compressor on and off.

Adjacent to it is the recirculation button whick also lights up when pressed. I believe this performs the same function as the "MAX" button on some systems.

My problem is that the button is stuck in the illuminated position. When I press it the light stays on and won't go off. The system is working, but remains in the recirculation mode.

I'll try removing the fuse, but since the light is on and the fan is running, it doesn't seem a likely source.

Will keep you posted.

I have to leave the recirc on all the time anyway. Otherwise I get the vapors from the engine compartment in the cab. That was the dealers (at least 3) solution to the hydrocarbon oder I was getting, usually with the engine warm and then I slow down to idle (as in getting off the freeway and stopping at the bottom of the exit ramp).

Will recirc go off when you put it on defrost? It should automatically go off in any of the defrost modes.

Looking at the wiring diagrams, the AC system is controlled by a microprocessor and the indicator lamps in the buttons are also controlled by the microprocessor. If it goes out of recirc mode when in defrost then it's possible it's just a bad switch or wire (though it could be the controller). If it doesn't then I'd say there is a controller problem. Just a guess, though.

Badunit-correct thats why I suggested pulling the fuse (#36) for the computer. It resets computer and could fix problem. Computer has power to it all the time.

Update: tried the #36 fuse trick. It caused the recirc light to flash, but it still would not turn off. It's going to the dealer for accessory installations next week, will follow up then.
