im puttin stacks on my truck and running a 4" down, 4" straight pipe and into a selfdraining crossover w/ 5" stacks. i currently have 5" w/ muffler on it and it sounds ok,(little quiet, but the pipe exits at the rear of the truck not at my head). clearance is a issue and really cant be any larger than 8" round. recomendations on a inexpensive muffler that does the job and where to put it ( closer to the downpipe or closer to the rear?)

p. s. im not installing a aeroturbine. no muffler is worth $190. 00 imo.

walker? dynomax? donaldson?

How quiet/loud do you want it? I have Dynaflex resonator on my truck. I have it just behind the xfer-case. It is short (8 or 9" (?) dia. x 16" overall length) and straight-through. 5" inlet/outlet. It is a bit quieter than a straight 5". It got rid of the drone I had with the Big Exhaust 5" system I had, before the stacks.

For me anyways, it isn't too loud unless you already have a headache. Then it is a bit much.
