Ok. I just bought my Ram, and of course, it doesn't come with the things that you sold with your old truck :{ . So, before i run out to wallyworld, i thought i would ask the experts:

No jack: Is Walmart's largest bottle jack ok?

Two extentions for old jack but no wrench: What kind of wrench does this vehicle use? is it a standard tire iron or something else like my old ram 1500 gas? My 4 way lug wrench does not fit the wheel nuts. The truck did come with an extention for the wrench (it is about 6 inches long and fits the lug nuts). Should i just use a 1/2 inch drive rachet and socket or something else?

Thanks in advance!

3 ton minimum for the jack. as to the tire iron, it is just a normal tire iron , you could use a ratchet with a socket but you are either going to have to put a cheaterbar on it or get a really long ratchet. the lugs are torqued to 100+ ft. lbs.

Do you have the tool you need for the spare tire wench? If not, it's easy to make a better one than the stock gadget.

There is a hole above the rear bumper. It has a piece of pipe going to the spare tire winch. The part that sticks out has a 5/8" hex hole in it. Part of the jack handly fits there to raise or lower the spare tire. It's been so long since I used the tool that fits it that I don't remember if it is part of the jack handle or something else. I made a simple tool that works better. If you don't have something that will fit that thing you can't get your spare tire down.

Joe, I've used channel locks many times to get a spare down. It's a dirty job, but it can be done. You have to crawl under the truck and use the channel locks on the shaft itself. Takes a long time, but will work in a pinch.

wheel nut lugs are 15/16. Look for a tire iron that has that size. I just use a 1/2" breaker bar with a 2' piece of pipe and a 15/16 socket.

I made a simple tool from some stuff in my junk. The bolt has a 5/8" head. The normal nut for that size takes an 11/16" wrench, but the special nuts take a 5/8" wrench. I just jammed the two nuts together on the bolt to make this tool. If I'm in my garage I use an air wrench. On the road a ratchet and socket. If I have an air wrench with me I can use my truck's air compressor. The spare tire goes up or down like it was on an elevator.
