Hi All

I am ready for new tires and am looking for a less pricy alternative to the Michilin 265-75 R16E. I currently have 50K on them and have priced them at $200. 00 here in Dutchess county NY. I am looking for the same ride/handling/wear quality as with OEM tires.

I also noticed that passenger side front is now wearing in a wedge style inside to outside, so I need an alignment and what else. I am looking for good shop to do that work in Poughkeepsie NY area. I am hesitant on taking it to a dealer due to labor cost and or quality.

I've had load range "D" or "E" Goodyear Wranglers on my truck since new, 153k total. They always rode hard, but I thought it was just the truck. Last month, I put on a set of 265/75 R16 Firestone Steeltex. Load range "E". They ride much smoother & softer than the Goodyears, Don't know about thee Michelins, but The Firestone's were a big imporvement on mine, should have switched at 80k when I put on the 2nd set of GY's

In the past, I've had extremely good luck with BFG A/T's. My last set lasted almost 60K mixed city/highway miles (and a few offroad excursions). They wore like iron as long as I kept them aired up right and kept the alignment in check.

Good traction wet/dry, and the ride wasn't so bad. When my stock Michelins wear out, BFG's are getting put on.

HTH.

If you like the stock tires and price is the issue - just look around for takeoffs at local dealers or tire shops or classifieds. Lots of people take them off with only a few miles for bigger or more aggressive tires - usually can get these "used" tires for $75 or so. A great bargain in my opinion.

BFG A/Ts

I got 44,000 out of the last set. I dont tow a lot. I will run these until a more affordable 19. 5 rim comes along.

They are quiet on the highway and in the first half of their life they will sling the mud pretty good.

They are one of the few that will fit 16. 5 rims.

The 31. 5 10. 5 16. 5 fills the wheel wells

If you like the Michelins call around to the used tire stores. I bought 4 265x75x16 D mounted and balanced with 65% tread left for $130. 00 for all 4. I got 100,000 on my last front ones, backs just dont seem to hold up.

Thanks for all the replyse so far. I have been looking for for used, but have difficulty finding a set.

I am still looking for a good alignmnet shop in Dutchess/Putnam county or Danbury CT area

BFG AT KO's are what I recommend. The 285's I have been running wear great and are quiet. I got over 50K out of the last set and I abused the tires heavily, with only one rotation the whole life of the tire. Someone that drives more easily and roatated them could get a lot of miles of them.

Kraut67M - I priced the Michelins 265/75R16E at Canadian Tire today and was quoted a price of Cdn$175/each plus installation. That would be about US$115.
