As the title says guys and gals... ... ... ... ... . what are you folks running as far as lifts and tire wheel combos? I love the look of a lifted 1st gen.

Things to consider; I will tow single car hauler with the truck so will need a rated wheel tire combo. Probably looking at a 4 to 6 inch lift.

Any recommendations on both would be appreciated.

Thanks... .....

skyjunker - i think that is all there is

talk about a night mare

do a search, or call me and i will give you my side of the story

they dont ride too good on the stops, do they?

don

I have the skyjacker softride 6" with 2" blocks in the rear and 4" skyjacker softrides in the front. Rides way better than stock in comfort. It is more squirrely at speed while cornering and hitting bumps. :) I am happy with the flex. I have 33's and they are too small. 35's next. I am afraid bigger will be too tall gearing for rocks with the 3. 54's.

Yes, the bushing issue is goofy with the softrides, but I haven't had problems yet. If you want really good springs call Alcan or some other custom shop.

If I did it over again, It would be 2" shorter with 33's and much easier to get in and out of all the time. I must be getting old. :)

i would love to

however, the rr spring is not what gives it the lift (to match the fnt)

my kit came with large blocks for the rr (maybe 6?)

hate em...

hummm, my front springs are the 8" models (for a gasser), they call that a 6" for the ctd

dont know for sure about the rear.

how did you end up with that combo?

i like the idea...

if you are making any kind of power blocks are not the way to go

don

skyjacker has one size rear springs ... ... . for the 2. 5 inch lift you use no block, for the 4 inch you use a 2 inch block ... . and the 6 inch lift uses a 4 inch block

i found that after i bought the kit and it showed up .....

ps - you shoulda seen my 75 1 ton

80 rr, 70 frt - had springs made for it - 40" hawgs

was re-doin the 440 and someone drug it onto a flat trailer and stole it!

dever spring did those springs up (10") - they wouldnt make em again (for my ctd)

so bummed when i saw this kit

then i tried to inst it and found out about the bushing issues!

how did you end up with that combo?

My parts truck had them on it. :) That is why I went with basically a 4" leveling lift, Cheap. This is a standard kit by skyjacker in their catalog.

The front is up 4" and the rear is up 2" over stock to level the truck. I do like the look, just a little aggressive but not too wild for a daily driver.

The PO was a very through installer and had tried something I have not seen before. He machined out the poly bushings to accept the factory steel bushing liner. That gave less poly material which did not fare well under the stress of the wreck which created my parts truck. I put new skyjacker bushings in and greased the bolt. Time will tell if that was a good solution.

One note on the skyjacker kit. If you use Nitro shocks there are two shocks I have tested. The recommended shock is for 0-2" lift. It looks a little short for really good articulation. The PO had the 4" lift shock installed. It worked really well for articulation, but under load it bent the shock mount stud a little. If anyone finds a shock halfway between the two it would be perfect. (I know this is obvious, but Skyjacker doesn't seem to think so. At least from a marketing standpoint)

Skyjacker 4" lift, ORD cross over steering, 35's no problem, 3. 54 gearing rather shocked at how well the transmission handles it.
