getting ready to put smoked recon cab lights on. I have the factory lights and the recon kit looks to be plug in simple. my question is do I have enough wire pull and do this from the top of the truck or will I have to drop the headliner to plug the new ones in.

I installed Recons (replacing the factory install) and it was all done from outside. I did get the 3rd gen ones with the screws front and rear instead of on the sides, a MUCH higher quality light than what they sell for the 2nd gens, HOWEVER that does REQUIRE drilling two additional holes in your cab for each lamp.

Also the Recons will just simply plug into the factory cennections like the light bulbs did. This connection is not the greatest in the world and you might want to cut the connections off and hard wire them in. The wires on the Recon lights is pretty long and you should have no trouble getting them in. When you plug them in if they do not work then turn the connection around and try again, l. e. d's are polarity sensitive.

Mine are leaking, I just pulled the worst one off, am going to try to seal it with some silicon, but I think the leak might be between the lens and the base. Pretty poorly made in China QC if you ask me. Recon did step up and give me a set of the 3rd gen ones which at least look better than the 2nd gen ones I original bought, those didn't even have the appearances of being a good product, just horrible workmanship.

I really wished someone just made an OEM style clear lens, I can add 194 LED's easy enough. Having the separate lens and base looks to be nothing but a place for water intrusion.
