Arizona is cold!

Watching the game tonight the Red Cross add asked for $10.00 donation to help California. Their own State officials aren't even saying anything other than Impeaching Trump or some other useless H.S.

Where are the Illegals, welfare slackers & plastic glamor stars when you need them?

BURN BABY BURN!!

All I’m going to say is I find the Red Cross to be a less than stellar organization. What they ask for often has little to do with reality.
Never had much use for the Red Cross after when in Vietnam a guys Dad was passing. He had a chance to get home in time to be with his Dad before he expired. The Red Cross (Which I have never understood) made the determination that his Dad was fine an no need to let the Son come home. The Son could have spent a day or two with his Dad. Everytime I see the RC at the hospital asking for my kind of rare blood I tell them to go POUND SAND after I relate my reason, I give blood at our hospital on a regular basis.

I had a Marine friend who was several wounded in Viet Nam in "68". He woke up in Japan with no possessions at all, just a hospital gown on him! He ask a Red Cross worker for a cigarette. She asked him if he had any cash for the package of cigarettes, since he had nothing on him she would not provided the package to him!

Since than I have investigated this supposal charity origination and they are far from a non-profit origination in my opinion.

My dad was in the merchant marine during wwii. The US merchant marine had a higher per capita casualty rate then any of the armed services. When the US ships went into port and were greeted by the red cross, they red cross would not give them any cookies.

Fires in 2000 a business approached me with a donation of pallets of water. I was hauling supplies to the fires and other places I contacted the Red cross about the donation so I could drop off a pallet of water for the Red Cross . They denied and asked me to ask the business for cash instead. I have not donated or will not donate to the red cross again.

I had my bad experience with the Red Cross when I was A1C in the Air Force and took leave to surprise my mother and father. I caught a hop into San Antonio, caught a bus to the Greyhound Bus station, where I had my wallet lifted. I called Red Cross asking if they could loan me the money, about $12 for a bus ticket and I would pay back plus a $20 donation. They refused. I had to call my parents to come pick me up, a 90 mile drive. Some surprise.

So, I NEVER donate to the Red Cross.

Should have went to the USO.
When rehabbing in Maine I was able to catch hops to just about anyplace I wanted to go with little or no expense to me. I was at RAF Upper Hayford England when I was bumped off the flight to Andrews AFB. I had money but was a little short a person from the USO fronted me the money. I sent the guy double the loan, Ive never Forgotten that, Vietnam Vets weren't treated like the veterans are today, to find someone that showed an act of kindness like that meant alot to me.

Hey, it was 43 years ago... I didn't know what USO was. We had only been briefed contact Red Cross if you have an emergency. To a 19 year old who got ripped off in his own town, I was pretty good to even think of them.

Flying was nice though... three times a week, a T39, 5 seat executive twin engine jet, originated at Andrews AFB MD, stopped for fuel, and drop off senior officers/civilians at Maxwell AFB AL (my first duty station), and continue to Randolph AFB TX, then round robin back the next day.

Flying space A was pretty nice.

I worked on them at McClellan AFB as a civilian when they had problems, they usually had the little bottles of booze on board too. We mostly thawed them out when they flew out of Alaska and the gear switches would freeze at altitude and give a warning. The truth is, we would ask the pilots when they wanted to come back from Reno so we didn't work on a no defect situation. Fighter pilots got the same question. It wasn't free though, cost a case of beer or two.
