Thank you TDR members and staff for all the help and information over the last 20 years.

I'm leaving the TDR, I have sold the pontoon boat and was looking for a softer ride (ended up with a slightly softer ride and less MPG but cheaper fuel). So in July I traded in my 2013 2500 Cummins with a broken Jack storage hold down screw, and a few other problems due to age and snow/salt, and bought a 2023 1500 gasser Rebel Havoc.

I have since found this redesign of the Jack and tool storage system. Have the 2500 & 3500 seen this alternate design of the Jack storage hold down system? On the 2013 screw threads are exposed to the elements where it is screwed down through the floor under the passenger seat with the wing nut like head. On the 2023 1500, the bolt is screwed in from the outside and the threads remain inside the cab fairly well protected from the weather.

And my new ride.

On my '14 3500 the jack and tools are on a tray that slips into a slot on the inner side and drops over a stud with a wing nut to hold in place. Undo the wing nut, lift and slide whole thing out of the truck. Not sure about the 2500's.

The online Mopar catalogs show the current 2500 and 3500 using the wingbolt ( 52021663AA) that they have been using for 20+ years.

That change may have not made it to the online catalogs?

The setup on your '14 sounds like the way they should be, and anyone with the old style could easily make the change with a metric bolt and wingnut from the hardware store (If they can remove the old style wingbolt without it breaking).

Maybe the prior owner to when my FIL first brought the truck changed it out like you state. Lot better then hanging below to be exposed to elements!
