Reese Titan V Hitch

I have a question for anyone having installed the 14,000# Reese Titan V travel trailer hitch. Does the hitch come with the electrical plug adapter box? All of the pictures show the hitch without any type of provision for the Dodge plug. My hitch is on order and the salesman I spoke to didn't seem to know what I was talking about. If there is a seperate adapter, would someone have the part number. Thanks

The one I saw had a bracket welded to it so you could mount whatever electrical plug was needed. Hitch manufactures are not going to have any connectors pre-installed because they don't know if the customer wants a 4, 5, 6 or 7 pin connector.

Stan, I installed that same hitch on my rig. It has a welded on lip to mount a bracket to, but does not come with a plug bracket. I made my own out of a piece of bent steel. It is so nice having the plug face rearward now instead of facing toward the hitch...

I need to install the same hitch so that I can add an extension (towing while carrying an extended slide-in camper). Any thought on what to do with the factory hitch? Will it mount on the front?

I have a 2001 3500 and talked to a trailer dealer about the Titan V hitch. He said he called Reese and they did not know if there was a 2001 Reese hitch. He called Reese and they said they had one that would fit a 2000 but did n?ot know if the frame had been changed for the 2001 Ram and could not guarantee a fit. The dealer was reluctant to order the hitch as he could not be assured by anyone - even Reese - that it would fit. Did any of you fellows check on the likeness of the frame between the 2000 and 2001 trucks? Would appreciate the infor as I am really in need of the Titan V hitch.

Well, guess I'll have to make my own bracket - good idea to have it rear facing. Seems funny that Reese would not sell a box whereas if on bought a Draw Tite 12,000# hitch, the correct box is an option. (What the heck does a dealer do during installation)?

Concerning if the Titan V will fit the 2001 frame, two weeks ago today I talked directly with a Reese technical/design person. He stated that he had just gone to the local dealer and took the measurements on a new truck - they have not changed. I order, at cost ($219. 95), P/N RS45010. Have no idea what to do with the Dodge hitch, guess it would make a good anchor.

Around 1999 Dodge added a reinforcement bracket from the spring hanger bolt to the bottom flange of the frame. This prevents using the earlier HD hitches that use 4 bolts per side (such as the DrawTite Ultra Frame hitch, and perhaps the Reese ??). On my DrawTite, the front bolt uses the bigger hole that provides access to the bed mounting bolt, with a thick washer to cover the hole.

I mounted my 7 blade connector to the Reunel bumper next to the license plate. On a stock rear bumper, I put it on the side of the step area near the license plate. When a poot car dives under your Ram's rear end #ad
because the driver had brain fade, you will be glad he didn't smash the connector (one blade is always hot)and short out your electricals in the process of recycling his car. #ad

A final answer to the question - will the Titan V fit a 2001? Yes - there has been no frame change.

Today, I installed the hitch, P/N RS 45010, with no problem. Only the front mounting holes are changed for the Titan with relation to the stock hitch (holes are already in the frame). The Titan also does not interfere with the spare tire.

This is one tough looking piece of hardware!!
