Truck Down thinking of new one

I had the check engine light come on due to temp sensor issues a few months ago. Got a reflash, and truck did fine for awhile.

Then had the CEL come on again for similar temp sensor problems, but dealer used flash for TSB 18-003-06, which boggles my mind. That flash is for trucks with automatic transmissions, from what I can gather. Mine is NOT an automatic. Didn't see anything in the TSB that applies to the 6-speed trucks or that addresses the temp sensor issue.

Now, the truck seems to have less power in sixth gear, and seems to have less torque at part throttle in all gears--especially 4th through 6th. I used to shift at 1900-2000 RPM but now have to run it up to 2300 or more if I'm in a hurry.

What gives?

There ought to be a law... I bought a truck that drove nicely, now (after I've made payments) have a truck that isn't the same as what I agreed to purchase. The power isn't way down, but it IS down and I want it back without having to add a power adder.

Can I have the ECM cleared and flashed with the code it originally came with and maybe the first reflash I received? The mechanic did tell me to come back if the flash he did did not make me happy. Makes me wonder if he is aware of the fact that the flash he did saps power and knows of other flashes that don't...

The ecm part # is looked at to choose the correct part# update, the wrong # can not be loaded. Nor can your ECM be taken backwards by using the dealer tools.

Comforting to know Dodge can screw the truck up, but not unscrew it. :)

Just a thought, I run injecter cleaner every 6th tank on my truck, and for me it makes a big difference. Also we have the winter blend to deal with this time of the year, and that does not help.

And I do notice a power loss at different fill stations.

Hope this helps to comfort you.

Thank you. It may indeed be winter blend. I'm not running any additives for extra cetane.
