Adding Cetane booster to Amalgamated?

I had the reflash done and the mileage has increased dramatically. With a 7,500lb load this weekend I was seeing around 13mpg. I haven't had a tank through empty yet so I'll keep an eye on it, but it looks to be around the mid 16 range.

Loaded before I was seeing 11mpg with 5000-6500lbs and as low as 4. 7mpg with more than DC rates the truck for ;) And empty I was seeing around 14. 7.

Got mine done last week and the stumble is gone. Also, towed the race car to Nashville this weekend and the mileage was about 12mpg all the way. Not bad considering we AVERAGED about 71mph (1 stop).

Which reflash is this, what vehicles in particular is it for?

My rig is running super except for still poor fuel economy and if a reflash can improve that I'd be interested.

Strictly for the 600's. I also had the parts ordered for the cold weather startup. The dealer was telling me that it allows you to use your cruise control switches to bump RPM. That should be kinda cool.

I had the flash done and it didnt fix either problem ... (stutter or MPG)... they called Star and they said I am 1 of 4 which it did not fix... . and they dont know what to do next

Can any of you verify the TSB number that addresses the cold weather 2200 rpm stumble/flat spot/misfire/white smoke & all that? I think it's TSB 18-007-04. The sales guy told me 2 weeks ago that the service dept. told him they received the reflash. Dropped my truck off last night to have the reflash done and today at quitting time they call and tell me there are no reflashes that apply to my truck and that they didn't know what I was talking about. So I scrambled about and came up with this TSB number, called the service advisor back, and had him look it up in the computer. He read the description which sounds like the correct one but I'd like to be sure since, ONCE AGAIN (as in this isn't the 1st time), I, the customer, had to provide the info about a critical TSB. I don't know if DC doesn't bother to alert the dealerships, or if the service depts. don't pay attention, or if it's a combo of both...

Tks, -Rog...

Tks George. I knew I'd seen the TSB referenced somewhere else, though I hadn't seen the last 5 posts on the DTR thread. Now if tomorrow they tell me they can't get the new code, I'll be on the phone calling other dealerships asking if they have the code for that specific TSB. Need to get it fixed before the cold weather's gone (to verify it worked)...

There is a thread on www.dieseltruckresource.com about an injector replacement on a 600 built 1/9. It fixed the problems. Good luck. I'm waiting to get mine that was built 1/9.

That's sad. I wonder how many 600's are running around out there with owners mad as heck that it's not running right and the dealer's don't (or won't) do anything about it. Of course, I mean those owners who don't have access to the internet, this site and the DTR. If I were a dealer, I'd definitely have someone, or myself, read these forums since people here seem to know more about what's going on than anyone else.

TX Gooseneck, glad to hear that the reflash solved your issues. :)

You're right about that, jlasich. When the reflash came out, the service dept. said they wouldn't have it for another week. 2 weeks later I'm told they have it. I schedule the appointment, drop it off, and at the end of the day they call to say there'r no flashes available for the '04. 5. The advisor asked if I could leave the truck another day and they'd call DC. I said ok, but if you look up TSB 18-007-04  ... So the next morning I call to make sure they're still on track. They tell me the code is not in their system and the phone line seems to be down again. I told them that if it doesn't look good, not to wait too late - call me and I'll find someone else to do it. Not hearing back, I stopped in and sure enough, they still couldn't do it. I kept asking why the heck they DON'T ALREADY HAVE IT... Anyway, I called a smaller dealer not too far from me. I gave him the TSB number and the release date, to which he replied 'well yeah, that comes from Chrysler so it SHOULD be in our system', and even though they've yet to see a '04. 5, it was. He was going to try to work it in this afternoon, but said he really wanted to do on a morning next week since there have been issues with the new controllers locking up during a reflash, which ends up involving the STAR folks. So, it'll be getting done next Wednesday... All this for a simple flippin' reflash, and I still have to then fight the 65mph vibration issue! At least they drove it around town and said it 'feels normal'. Strike one! I'll take it back for strike two with a lemmon law card pinned to my chest like a name tag ;) ...

Ok I feel better now

i still have real small hesatation but can live with it but should not have to. 7000+ mi. now and mileage still sucks, my old ones did better great otherwise tho.
