I recently talked to the service manager at my local Dodge dealer about the reflash for better fuel mileage. He informed me that there had been complaints about less power after this had been performed. Could anyone add to this. I have not had this done to my truck yet and would like to get more info. I am not willing to give up any power and once done you can't go back. He did not say if this is while towing or empty.

There are some other threads on this use the search feature, some say loss of power others don't you make the call.

We haven't noticed any increase in mileage or any loss of power. Of course, we've had an overall average of 18+ mpg based on an XCEL spreadsheet since May 2004.

It did seem there was less engine noise and more turbo sound.

If you're getting poor mileage, it's probably worth it. You could always add a mild box to regain lost power, if you should feel some were lost.

Hope this helps,

Jim

I had the reflash performed on my 04. 5. I've not noticed any loss of power. I may have increase 1 mpg with no load but no change pulling my 10K pound 5th wheel.

Ditto... No loss of power, improved mileage almost 2mpg's. CTD ran smoother and quieter after. Had it done 12,000 miles ago and my mileage has been getting incrementally better as it breaks in. I now have 15,000 miles in 5 months of ownership.

Finally had reflash done (TSB 18-037-04). After two tanks, overhead mileage is over hand calculated mileage by about 1 MPG. Original display before reflash was about what I calculated with each tank.

Anyone else see this? I like what I see, wish it were accurate.
