I took the truck in today to have some TSB's checked. Apparently the reflash TSB is not covered under the 7/70 warranty. That is powertrain only he said. In my opinion, which is not always correct, the ECM controls the powertrain and should be covered but whatever. It's going to cost a minimum of $79. 00 dollars to fix. :-{}

That's and ENGINE EMC reflash, so should be covered under the engine 100K warranty. I'd find another dealer.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong?

I just got back from picking the truck up. The service manager must have been having a bad morning. When I went in there he said there would be no charge b/c like swexlin said "it was covered under the 100K warranty. " The manager said that the owner who previously had my truck babied it a lot and the engine had stored his driving pattern in it. History also showed that the truck had never gotten better than 15mpg. He said the the mechanic told him I should get better mileage after the flash. We will see. I am also going to go ahead and order a Rokktech sensor.

I may be wrong, some one please correct me if so but, I don't beleive that the dealer is supposed to charge you the customer anything for TSB service. The TSB is kinda like a problem that they discovered and the TSB is the solution for that problem.

I had my '01 flashed twice under warranty and it wasn't even a question as to whether it was covered. . . no charge for the flashes, even though I requested them.

Well, I had mine in to the dealer today for the 15k mile schedule B service, which I had to explain, and asked about TSB's. Service Advisor asked if I has a specific problem, and I said no, but that I wanted to make sure that I was on the latest ECM software. He said that if I didn't have a specific problem to address, that they wouldn't check TSB's. I replied that if I brought in a list of TSB's, would they address each issue, and he said NO, that if they did that for every customer, they would be out of business, and that no dealer for any manufacturer does that. I told him that that's a shame, since I would consider a happy customer to be good business. Then I pointed out to him that last month, when I had my BMW in for oil service, that they replaced all six ignition coils while doing the oil change, under a TSB that I never received. I didn't have to ask, they just did it because that's what GOOD service departments do! And it was free, just like the oil service! He didn't have a reply.

By the way, they charged me $25 a quart for diff fluid. I couldn't belive it. Bruce

That is what I thought also, however, there is this little sentence in the TSB's that read: "Policy: Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty. " Basically I was told if your vehicle is out of warranty then you have to pay for the fix. This would be the case of my door seal. You can completely see where the door has rubbed it and should be replaced under the TSB 23-008-04 but no dice since I'm past the 36,000 mile.

TSB's are covered under the warranty. Powertrain is HARD parts. Not computer updates. Looking and performing TSB's when a customer ask is no biggy. Did it for MANY and sometimes techs would say ADD this TSB to this ticket. I noticed a problem and customer DID NOT COMPLAIN. Now something like door seals and mileage is not out by a lot(20k or less as a example) most D. C. reps will sign off on KNOWN issues without a glitch.

MABurns-THAT is an awesome 6er ! Bruce

Doesn't it look like it has a mischevious smile? :D

They will put a smile on anyones face that drives it. It is the only vehicle that I have driven that I want to drive more than a CTD with the TST on 7x7. Oo.

I fixed the post. You happy now?

You ought to be more concerned about the way this guy was treated at the dealership rather than my post.

Same ole' story, dealers treating customers terribly when it comes time for them to anti-up for work that they are required to do! :rolleyes:

Gimme a break... .

Thats why my truck never sees a dealership. I just don't trust them.
