Took the wifes o5 in to Carlin Dodge Friday for trip computor being WAY off and black smoke. Dealer said computor showed 50% idle time??? Well anyway they matched the trip computor to the ECM wich said we were getting 13mpg. That is pretty close to what we were hand calculating, the trip computor showed 15. They reflashed the truck to the lates specs I was told. Now the truck seems to be a little louder and not as smooth in idle as before. I was only getting about 13. 2 MPG combo driving before reflash. I will have to wait and see about the mileage. The truck is an 05 2500 4wd 48 re short bed built 02 of 05. Anyone else notice any difference in combustion or idle noise after a reflash?

I had my 05 (built 8-04) done and did not notice a change in the idle. It still belches dark gray smoke for the first 60 seconds after it is started. Other than that it runs strong and gets 18. 5 MPG running back and forth to work without a load.

Your mileage seems a bit low to me. i get a regular 16 mpg in town and 19 to 23 on the highway if I keep it under 70 mph. ... 18 mpg at 70 and up.

Im very happy with my stats as my buddys new Toyota gets less than my cummins :D . The only draw back is that unleaded regular is 30 cents less in Grants Pass Oregon. :eek:

Raymond smith, 2gen3gen I'll be really happy if it gets that kinda mpgs. It only has a couple of thousand miles but even 13 is pretty low. My 04 buy back truck got 15 hand calculated on its first tank and the trip comp was within a half a mile.

The 04 I had before I upgraded to an 04. 5 3500 4x4 got a few miles per gallon better also. My first tank in it was over 20 and that was scream'n down I-5 in Northern Calif at speeds well over 75 mph. My 04. 5 likes 68 mph and is very nice to me if I keep it there :D . But, if I get in a hurry, I get punished by a few less mpg's. :{
