A couple of days ago I hitched-up my 32ft gooseneck trailer and was very disappointed with the acceleration of the truck, The flat spot at 2000 rpm was very noticeable and the engine would get a mild shake if I pushed it.

Today I had the dealer reflash the ecm per the TSB and proceeded to hitch-up the trailer when I got home and took it for a ride the results are :D :D

The truck now pulls strong & smooth from idle to 3000 rpm no engine shudder or flat spot to be found.

I do not believe there were any ill affects from the reflash, now all I have to do is Check the mileage empty to see if it has improved

( I will post results )

Turbo600, when was your truck built? Is the flash included on trucks built after a certain date?

I'm glad it fixed your problem.

Rick

My truck was built 1-20-04.

It affects trucks built between 12-10-03 to 2-2-04 with

engine serial # 57130285 thru 57149668, If your truck falls in this

catagory It did improve my truck. :D

My truck was built 1/19/04, and I have NONE of these symptoms. Believe me, I have tried to find them, and paid close attention to my tachometer, and what my engine is doing. Pulls strong and smooth throughout the powerband, no hesitation nor flat spots. Reflash was not done.

I'm thinking that this was maybe a cold weather issue, and maybe I won't notice until next fall or winter.

I am glad not all these trucks were affected.

That's what doesn't make sense. A computer program is a program. Although, coming from my Ford, we had MANY different computer codes on our trucks. For instance, mine was APX1, but others had APX2, etc.

Maybe that is the case with these trucks. Maybe I lucked out, and got a good code, or maybe I'll find out next winter.

THanks, I had already printed that out. I believe there probably are different codes for different trucks. I guess I got lucky. Probably just jinxed myself.

Swexlin, I have essentially the same truck as you. I wonder what you are seeing for mpg? I have mild symptoms of the 2k stumble and from time to time a rough or stumbling on start up. My mpg is about 13. 7 if I really try. Just wondering if your's is running good what your mpg is.

Thanks,

George

George, my mileage, with only 450 miles on this engine, has been varying between 11-13, depending on my driving. I have NO stumble, NO hesitation, NO rough start up - even on a 30* morning last week. That morning, had about 15 seconds of white smoke. My PSD would smoke for at least a minute, maybe more.

She pulls strong and smooth. This truck is way stronger than my V10 and PSD. Like a freight train, right to 70mph!

I guess I got lucky with the code. Like I said, I'll be very curious to see next winter when we get some extended cold weather.

Scott,

I probably don't know what I'm talking about but is it possible that the TSB was done to your truck before you bought? Do they try to update unsold trucks?

I completely forgot to ask the dealer when I picked it up. I doubt it, as it is my understanding that a TSB is not like a recall. A TSB is done usually at the owners request to solve a problem.

I looked under the hood, and around the valve cover. If they do the "flash" I think there is supposed to be a sticker. I didn't see any.
