Ive read alot about the problems with plugged DPTs and ruined turbos in the 07-08 model years. My question is has the problem been solved. I am considering purchasing a 2010 HD and I really dont want to have to make freeway runs on a regular basis to keep the emmisions hardware working. For the price they are asking for these trucks one should be able to baby the truck or run heavy and hard without worrying about what it will do to emissions components. thanks for any info.

Are you keeping the truck in your sig? I do not think you can get more reliable truck then that. Good luck in your future plans.

Im not sure if I will keep it or not. It would make a great project truck. But if the 2010s need to go in for warranty service every three months I will be keeping the 98 for my daily driver.

The newer flashes have seemed to help out ALOT !! I havent been reading too many problems with the turbos or exhaust lately. My 09 has only @7000 miles on it though and so far so good.

We have an 08 5500 with 110K miles on the clock and it runs loaded most of the time...

We've yet to see a DPF regen, yet we know it has to be happening... this truck is now 16 months old and its not been back to the dealer other than a cam or crank position sensor in the first 30 days of ownership...

Hope this helps. .

The honest answer is NO - however, the DPF is here to stay thanks to our friends in the EPA. The whole trick to owning one of these trucks is to work the hell out of it. If you plan to use it for a grocery getter - keep the 98 that you have. But if you do plan to work it, they are awesome. I have an 09 with 20K miles on it and I couldn't ask for a better truck - But if it isn't on the highway, then it's towing something - that's why it's done so well. The guy that you want to talk to is Mike Mullanax - he is probably the single most intelligent person on this forum and will give you the "NO BS" answer on how many problems he has seen - (he's a 6. 7 mechanic).
