2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Relays for Summit Headlight Harness

Does anyone know the part number or where I can get a replacement relay for the Summit Racing headlight harness?

The auto parts store have a 'Fog' light relays, look the same
should work ok...
any 12v relay will work. .

I am in the same situation. I must have the first generation. Standard relays are different. Can't find them. Even summit says there not available.

If all else fails someplace like Mouser or Digikey should have 'em.

I'll post a close up pic tonight. The pins are all horizontal in a square congfiguration, 2 on top, 2 on bottom. The relay plugs into the harness. I know I can cut the plug off and hook up a relay that I have, but just plugging in a new one would be easier.

I remeber this being discussed awhile back. I used a "GP Sorensen" brand #41-5093 as a replacement. It may have taken a slight modification to make it fit properly (trimming of a piece of plastic or such). It has been awhile.



That said, you may want to take the relay apart (cover off), mine were rusty. I cleaned them with electrical contact cleaner and made a tempory repair.

I started to notice a delay when I turn the headlights on. Only when it was cold out. Went to Advance Auto & had them pull 2 GP Sorensen relays. I didn't like the idea of paying $16 a piece for them, so I found a clip in replacement at SUV Lighting for $5 a piece. The Sorensen's do feel heavier and are probably of better quality.

Does the Summit harness have any parts that aren't custom made? Reason I ask is that I had to replace a resistor pack on my harness from suvlights which is custom made and can't be bought anywhere.

Borg Warner R3054

I used a Borg Warner R3054 as a replacement quite awhile back and has been working fine.

Hmmm......

Put my new relays in and I still get a 20 second delay in headlight turnon in 30° weather when the cab is cold. Got a new headlight switch and installed tonight. Hopefully this fixes it.

I find my relays last about 2 years. I also put them up front hanging verticle rather than horizontal and let them dangle rather than screw them down to the vibrating engine compartment sheet metal. I tuck them in back of the transmission cooler (ETC) so they keep some what of a normal temperature and not directly exposed to the OAT and elements.
