Relocating return fuel line

Has anyone tried too relocate the return fuel line to get it away from the heat of the intake manifold???

I've already replaced the hose and am about to do it again as I'm back to a hard start situation(unless I prime it with the lift pump button).

There has to be a better solution to this recurring problem other than replacing the hoses every so often!!!!

Cummins located it as they did for easy engine installation on the assembly line. Long ago I deleted that pesky bracket that bolts down under two bell housing bolts, and relocated the fuel lines away from heat somewhat. That is, I did not try to tuck them into the various brackets and hold down loops. I also deleted the rearmost tab of the return line at the back of the injection pump. In principle, changing the line or overflow valve is much easier. However, Sickly is apart often enough that such mundane maintanance can be done with the head off.

I used USCG approved (blue) fuel hose on mine and routed it arround the fuel filter. Only the first few inches are subject to the heat under the manifold. . We'll see how long it last.

Pumperdude: Where are you getting that marine approved blue fuel return (5/16) line? And does the source also carry the other size(3/8) for the feed line? If I have to do that job, just as well do both. Any sources are appreciated. I haven't tried a Cummins dealer for it yet. Thanks.
