My injector pump kicked the bucket Tuesday. I had a problem I posted a little while ago about my engine stalling at various times. It was the number three cylinder every time. It would stutter, stuble and eventually quit. I recieved lots of help and info and possible solutions from the forum. I appreciate that

If at is any interest to anybody it was #1 diesel fuel that did it in. Our #1 is more like Kerosene. The pump did't get enough lube and the number three plunger is sticking really bad. It was intermittent and now it is persistent. One of the possible solutions I recieved was to replace the fuel filter and fill it half way with Stanadyne and the other half with #2. Drain the tank, fill with 5-10 gallons of #2 and another pint of Stanadyne. Manually manipulate the throttle linkage back and forth a bunch of times. Start it and hit the peddle to the floor a couple of times. Lastly to drive until I burned off the tank of fuel. That was to hopefully lubricate and maybe prevent the plunger from sticking agian. It's too far gone now

I went to the local Cummins dealer to buy a fuel filter. About a mile away from getting there the number three quit. I couldn't get it to work anymore. Does anybody know a better place for your Cummins to break down than right at the Cummins dealer? LOL I managed to have three mechanics look at it. They all agreed and said I need a new pump. Merry Christmas right? Bummer is that's $1500-$2000 I don't have right now. So my poor truck sits in my garage until I can fund my new pump and injectors. I'll probably end up with Piers' 300hp/3000rpm pump and 370 injectors. (While I was there at the dealer, he had a redhead 525 sitting in the back. WOW, what a motor! Do you think it would fit? Nah, then I would have to talk to the electric 24v'ers to get a "brain")
The moral of the story is to make sure you use a quality additive with your number one diesel fuel.

P. S. FWIW DC will not warranty my pump even though it was replaced in Feb. My warranty ran out in June. I drove 14k since. Bummer
