Well, you have the platform mounted to the hitch, pole in the center of the platform, how about a couple of cheap RV jacks on the platform corners furthest from the truck. That should add the stability you're looking for.

Dig, do you have a B&W Goose neck hitch??

That would work perfect. Buy about 12" of 2" square stock (TS2X2X3/16) and buy your brass poll so that it fits nicely inside the square stock. Weld it to the stock and slide it down in the hitch. It would cantilever out of the bed and be pretty strong. Don't know how big Gorilla is, but the b&w is a 30k lb hitch! The stabilizers like those on a concrete pumper would be a sweet bomb and a conversation piece.

If it flies, you could sell your idea to b&w and they could add it to their already long list of accessories. They'll call it "Dig's mobile dance poll"
